Where: 3201 Miller Road, Wilmington. It features a large tasting room and patio built in a restored 100-year-old Spanish mission-style factory building that was the site of a former chemical laboratory and electroplating facility.
Who: Co-owner Craig Wensell is the former CEO of Bellefonte Brewing in Wilmington. He served as a Black Hawk helicopter crew chief with the Army National Guard in the Afghanistan war. He’s joined by CFO Keith Hughes, creative director John Fusco, cellarman Dan Yopp and COO Derek Berkeley.
What: Wilmington’s first production brewery since the closure of Diamond State Brewing in 1954, with an initial expected production of 500 barrels a year. Its beers are described as “Playfully pretentious – easily enjoyed.”
When: The brewery tasting room is open Thursday-Sunday.
Etc.: The state of Delaware spent $3 million to clean the former chemical site and remove more than 3,000 tons of contaminated soil.
