Beer Radar: A sorta new brewery in Fishtown, and Kennett Square gets one, too

Tria Taproom (Center City) is getting into the spirit of the Super Bowl with Crowler Bowl, a special this week on crowlers filled with West Coast (Go Rams) or New England (Tom Brady sucks) IPAs. Last I checked, the tap list included Sierra Nevada Resilience Butte County Proud and Levante Cloudy and Cumbersome, but for my money that 2SP Franklin Fjord is looking very tempting…

Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant is supporting Penn State THON in a big way. The brewpub group will support the student-run childhood cancer philanthropy effort by donating menu proceeds to the event this weekend. Look for special pairings, including Nittany Lion Nachos with Vienna Red Lager

Kurant Cider (Fishtown) is now making beer, and has changed its name to Kurant Brew & Brew…  Bonesaw Brewing (Glassboro, N.J.), which gets a lot of buzz in these parts, is now canning. Its second run, Heroes for Ghosts imperial IPA, gets released this weekend… Levante Brewing (Chesco) is now home-delivering. Order a minimum of three 4-packs (starting at $15 each plus tax, plus shipping). More details here

Braeloch Brewing looks like it’s close to opening. Its series of pre-opening Flight & Pint Nights, slated for Feb 8-13, sold out quickly. I figure the official opening day is right around the corner…

Wanna know the stories behind Round Guys’ brews? Check out the brewery’s Original Slacker Podcast… Sure, there’s a big game on Sunday, but Devil’s Den (South Philly) will host a watch party for that other huge event: Puppy Bowl. Stop in and check out the adorable, adoptable puppies from Morris Animal Refuge, and enjoy a hot dog and a beer. Proceeds benefit the refuge

Weird Brewery Event of the Week

Baby Goat Bottle Time and Snuggle Time at Crooked Eye Brewery (Hatboro), Feb. 21. Tix $25. This is a one-hour event with rescued baby goats which includes a complimentary beer, bottle time and snuggle time. Enjoy a beer while the goat kids enjoy a baby bottle during bottle time. Then enjoy snuggle time and or let them have fun jumping on you. Get a goat back massage. The goat kids will be in diapers and onesies or suspenders. The goats kids love jumping from person to person and they have incredible balance. The goat kids are rescued, don’t have moms so they really appreciate the love of people. Majority of proceeds go to supporting these special kids and to help preserve their home, open farm land. They thank you in advanced for your support. Neighmaste!
